superiorfishguy
I might be buying a cabin in the area and wondering if any good walleye and panfish lakes-- wondering about Shell and Beaver Damm lake since they are close--I think I heard Shell is a good walleye lake--any info on lakes in area would be great--thanks
vman59
Shell Lake is good for eyes yes, Beaver dam has good fishing as well. Some other lakes are Red Cedar, Birch, Big Chetac. There are a myriad of small lakes that offer great gill and bass action with quality fish in them. My suggestion would be to hit the local bait shops where ever your cabin is and go from there. Buying a map book and looking over the lakes is also a good idea . I keep one in my truck all the time.
Nick Kuhn
Panfish fishing is generally good on all the lakes, but the bigger lakes tend to have the bigger fish. Walleyes are very hit and miss, but Shell would be a better bet than Beaver Dam. Beaver Dam however will be an improving walleye fishery in years to come as they changed the stocking from small to large fingerlings and the DNR says a lot more are surviving. But like vman said there are a lot of lakes along 63 that offer a good variety of fishing experiences. The only problem is you'd need 2 books as Washburn county is in a different book than Barron...
