Clearwater River, Bemidji

Fished the Clearwater today. I've fished it a dozen times more or less this year with only a few times getting skunked. The area around the handicap access gets hit pretty hard, but i'm still able to pull one or two 8-10 inchers out of there.

But today i tried a new place. I drove downriver a little ways on "Nelson Dam Road" and climbed the atv trail (old railroad grade?) to fish east of the road. After a long battle with nettles and spikenards i found a few good bends with pools i could fish. Very beautiful area. i'm pretty satisfied. I caught two 11 inchers and a 13.5 incher all rainbows. I did lose my favorite lure, though. I can get a new one, but this one was soooo good to me. it's a mepps aglia, colorado blade with brown trout like markings. no skirt. i have lots of others, but this one worked so good i never used them.

Just posting that there are nice trout to be caught in the bemidji area.
