Trimmimg Trees?

Can I trim my maples this time of the year. They are shading my veg garden to much.

Yes but this is not the best time of year to do it because it can make the trees vulnerable to disease and such. I think there may be something you can to like painting that can help reduce this potential though but I'm not sure about that. If possible, I'd wait until late fall through early spring while the trees are dormant.
