I will also second or third the intermediate shaft. I have replaced several of these. They used to have a lube kit that u could purchase but soon found out it was better to replace with a updated design. I have been a mechanic for 20 years and have found several problems with all makes some the same problems and others were just put together on a monday or friday when everybody wants to not be at work. As far as german cars are concerned get your checkbook or credit card ready because they are not cheap to fix. Most of them have to go to the dealership because diagnostic tools are hardly available anywhere else.

My dads Avalanche is the biggest pile I have ever seen. Shocks, U Joints and a few others I can't remember, but I know there has been a few others. He was always a Ford guy, and said once the Avalanche is paid off- he is going back.

I didnt mind mine, but the money for them is out of control. I could have bought a year old 250 superduty for the price of the avalanche!
