Smoothing out the suface....

Hi Everyone,

Quick question: How can one "smooth out" a lawn? When my wife and I built our house 9 years ago, we seeded the lawn and it has come in nicely and built up over the years. It is thin in some areas and really thick in others, but my main question is how can I smooth out the bumpiness, even on the thick parts of the lawn? Will a big lawn roller do it, or is that tough on roots?

You don't want to compact the soil. Are the bumps where it transitions from thick to thin? - plant more grass. If it's the soil itself you may need to get a load of dirt and dress it would to smooth things out.
