does anyone know of any public hunting ponds in the south metro for waterfoul? i usually hunt on the minnesota river in savage but there can sometimes be quite a few guys out there. any info would be appriciated

A good sportmans atlas will show you all public hunting areas. I would drive around and look for some private sloughs or backwaters. Knock on a few doors be polite and respectfull and sooner or later you will find a good spot!
