merganser
Ever get barked at by a yote? My buddy and I were set up in a pretty good stand and had the fox pro playing away for about an hour one evening and didn't have any luck. We stuck it out until dark but had to leave to finish up the weekends honey-do list. We started walking across the field away from the edge of the woods and and one mad 'yote started barking from about 300 yards away, down in the safety of the woods of course. We kind of looked at each other with amazement as three different packs started howling and carrying on. We figured (probably wrong) that they had been moving in on us and when we got up and started walking away the one dog saw us and started barking. It was almost spooky to have that many dogs that close but we couldn't see them. It was a nice confidence boost to know they are there, now we just have to figure out the trick to get them to expose themselves. I am not sure who was being hunted that night! picksbigwagon
Yes I have been barked at, and I have chalked it up to they saw me move or smelled me. were you only distress calling? Right now is mating season so maybe a challenge howl or interogation howl could help seal the deal instead of straight distress. We were out two weekends ago (yep the cold one) and had two sit down at 400 yds. they either saw us move or wanted to see the hurting rabbit. I did one interogation howl and in hindsight, I think that is what brought the pair in.
walleyes12
Its was more than likely a "warning bark" I hate to throw that out without hearing it. I am guess he caught you moving and he was warning other coyotes. They are very tough to call in once they let the warning bark fly.
