Morson Ice Fishing Extravaganza !!!

The date is set for the weekend of Feb 1 2008.This get together will be a great opportunity for some of the Morson regulars who have never actually seen each other to meet, greet and FISH! Also, if you have never ventured north of the border during hard water season, Morson is centrally located on LOTW with easy access to fantastic walleye and lake trout action. This would be a great chance for newbies to fish with some guys that have extensive knowledge of the area.

The annual Morson Ice Fishing Derby/contest is usually the last Saturday in February and is sponsored by the local tourism association.

This is a different event for people who do this blog thing sponsored by this particular resort.

Did not think of super bowl at the time but no problem satalite television in all cabins and main lodge. I'am sure we will be back to camp with are lake trout before game time. Ken

Yes the date is Feb 2 and Feb 3. Was talking to your dad last week he is aware of the date I think he plans on fishing looking warmer for the weekend. Ken

Well, six of us went up to Pelican Landing in Morson for the Morson Ice Fishing Extravaganza. Saturday was the Walleye Derby. Caught a couple worth registering but the local boys and girls outfished us, like last year. Sunday, we went up for Lakers and it was slow for our party. One at 8# one at 3# or so. On Monday, I got my personal best, ever, a 16.75# Laker. It would have been the money fish a day earlier. We also brought in seven Northerns between six and nine pounds. A fun weekend, as usual. Ken and Val set us up in two great cabins and overfed us all weekend. I can hardkly wait 'till next year's Extravaganza.
