saw your post in response to mine on where to head with for good ice and wheeler traffic. Where is Avoca and what good lakes are around there. We where down on Elysian, German and Madison over the weekend, and not much to show for it. Any hints crazy.gifwink.gif

If I had a nickle for everytime I heard that.

Check out the southcentral and southwest forums. Lots of good fishing to be had right now, but it may be a bit of a road trip for you. It's about 4 hours from my place to my folks place in Linwood.

I actually live in the cities. Eagan, a south suburb. Was down fishing around Madison Lake for the first time over the weekend, and kind of liked it but didn't do to well. Looking for some other good spots to go to.

I was driving back from getting my vehicle fixed last night at prime time, there were about 20 houses by the inlet out on Lake Bemidji, mostly portables as far as I could tell. Someone yesterday afternoon put a perm out on the edge of the ice ridge just north of the Paul and Babe statues. They also had a couple of 4wheelers with them. I'm thinking it won't be too much longer. Hubby said when we do finally get the house out there he's going to clear all the snow from the area, he had a bad experience when young of a house freezing in, they had to chop and burn it out. Yikes! shocked.gif Still waiting to put the lines in the water here, wish I could run that big ole auger. I can see it now, auger running and me spinning in circles, feet flying straight out! Catch some fish for me Reelem!

I won't be fishing this weekend either! frown.gif My boy has a b-day party on Saturday so I won't be heading up to the cabin. Scary story about the icehouse! We just bought a new Nils auger this year and I think it's light enough so I can drill my own holes but I got to get out on the ice first!! smirk.gif Tami, break a fin girl (can't say good luck ya know or I'll jinx it crazy.gifgrin.gif).

    • Yeah it was a beatdown
    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
