2003 malibu 3.1 liter plug wire routing?

I recently purchaced a 2003 malibu and it started to run poorly. I found that the rear wiring group fell against the exhaust manifold and melted through plug wire #1. Right where the plastic clip hold all of the wires together. Also on this clip is a metal bracket, not attached to anything. Where is it supposed to mount to? I don't want to melt anymore plug wires.

If its the large metal braket with two mounting holes it goes onto the two studs that the coil bracket bolts to on the back side of the motor (the studs are bolted into the head) near the firewall.

If its the small metal bracket it mounts to the coil bracket where it bolts to the intake on the side closest to the drivers side.

My guess is this happened when the intake gasket was replaced.

good call- the intake gasket was recently replaced before I bought it. Yeah, like those don't go out very often on that motor! .
