Directing a 2 bank Charger to 2 Sets of Batteries

AJ

Question

I have a battery and charging question.
Currently, I have a 24V system for my bow trolling motor. I have a dual bank 10 amp charger for that system (5 amps to each battery). What I am thinking about is adding another deep cycle for my electronics (which would then dedicate my starter battery only for starting). This would give me a total of 4 batteries on board. Then, I would like to add 2 of those red Perko battery switches where I could connect the charger (leads into the switch) and then direct the charge to whatever battery I wanted (outgoing from switch). This would allow me to charge the trolling motor batteries and then once fully charged, flip the switch (redirect the charge current) to my electronics battery and my starting battery. Can I do this? Has anyone ever done this? I guess the biggest change is that instead of connecting directly to a battery, my charger would connect to a switch and then be redirected to a battery of my choice. And, there would be a relatively long set of wires running aft to my electronics and starting battery. I realize I may lose some punch with a longer leads (from the charger to back of boat), but are there any safety or maintenance concerns I should have? Can those Perko switches handle the job? I believe this is the kind of job they were made for. Thanks.
