SD GPS Chips

Most guys (I think) are going with the Navionics chip. Seems to be very accurate on most of the established lakes and the Missouri River. The flooded sloughs and lakes such as are not usually as good however.

I was just out there 2 weeks ago using a 2006 Navionics chip on Waubay. Be very careful. I hit a rockpile that was about 100 yards from nearest structure showing on the chip. I also had a paper map that did not show it confused.gif

I have the '06 version and was in a boat with the '07 version. The Missouri River is much improved if that's what you're looking for.

I'm happy with my '06 version, but will probably upgrade next year. Things continue to improve.

Farmers have been piling field rock in different places for years that wouldn't be shown on a map. Waubay Lake is full of this type of stuff. There are stock dams and othet things that probably aren't on the maps also. Was it a field rock pile or actual structure?

I don't know, first time out there. It is located off the first point north of school bus point. Kind of SE of the recorded structure. Wind was blowing hard, and I was to busy limping to shore so I could change the prop. Thank god I had a spare smile.gif

My insurance agent told me that he has more claims for lower units being damaged from Waubay and Bitter lakes than he gets from the entire Missouri River Reservoir system. I have an 1800 Fisherman and a 14 foot lund with 15 hp on it. Guess which one I use when on Waubay?? shocked.gifwink.gif
