Mr Special
I've never fished the Montrose section. But on other parts of the Crow frogs should be the best baits or regular cut baits. I usually shore fish the Crow so while you're walking to your spot you can usually get enough for bait. I go with a regular bottom rig. Use enough weight to keep it on bottom something like a 1oz egg or No-rolls, then a stop of some sort like SnapShots or a Swivel which helps with line twist especially when those big channel go into a roll. Then a snell of about 14"-24". I like the shorter snells, cause they stay out of snags better. For hooks I personally like Eagle Claw WideGap size 1 or 1/0 hooks for any general application. What I have been using lately for frogs is a 2/0 or 3/0 JHooks for plastic worms. I hook them just like you would for a plastic worm. Start at the tip of the frogs mouth on top, go through the bottom, place it's upper/lower jaw on the bait holder section and the hook point starting on the bottom between the legs and out the top. It should look just like a weedless frog.Good luck and tell us how you do[This message has been edited by Mr Special (edited 09-08-2004).]
