Guest
i was thinking of making a family trip to winnipeg and was thinking of taking the boat. while the girls are doing girl things my two boy's (10 & 12) were thinking of trying for cats. any suggestions on where to stay, put in, if i should bring the big boat or smaller, ramp conditions, bait, or anything else would be greatly appreciated. neither me or the boy,s have ever caught a cat. tried the red once off shore thinking the landings wouldnt be good for a big boat. (didnt bring it) was way wrong! people were launching pontoons! never made it back though. too busy with wimpy walleyes i guess. we'd appreciate any info, thanks! Boar
Howdy take, I just got back from lockport dam at selkirk awsome cat fishing. For kids the dam provides a pretty safe invironment, no steep sloping banks, almost beach like shoreline. Stu's cat on the red has landing. Dont know how big you're boat is, and dont' know how much water stu has after the rains, two weeks ago my prop hit bottom on the west side near the dam by the lock, I have a small sixteen with a 25, best bet call stu. With kids though, I'd opt for the shoreline, lots of space too fish.
