Guest
Time and place is not an issue with me when it comes down to hauling a 40+lb flathead on the end of a 25lb test line. I can always make time, the issue is where on the river. I would like to share some of the local tug o war with these monsters. Please give me some pointer. In return, all cats are caught and released and photoed. Love those CATS...LARGE CATS THAT IS...
Guest
Hey MickeyIf you are after the biggest cats in Minnesota I would head to the St.Croix.The Flatheads run a little larger in that river.I can't help too much with locations because I don't get over there too much. But when I do I usually fish north of Stillwater. If you are after big channels the Red River is where you want to go.Best thing to do is go see Backwater Eddy.He can put you on some sumo piggys. If you want to catch numbers of big flatheads then try the MN River.Average is about 20lbs with some 30s quite common and a few going to 60.The whole river from the confluence to Granite Falls is good.Baits I prefer are lively large chubs or suckers.Drop a bottom rig in or on the edge of a deep hole that has some cover(wood or rock) and sit and wait untill the clicker screams![This message has been edited by fishhead (edited 04-06-2002).]
