2 man ladder stand preferences

Recommended Posts

for those of you that have purchased a 2 man ladder stand, which ones did you get and what are your likes/dislikes? If you would get another one, what would be different?

I am looking at getting the cabelas big honcho 2 man 15'.

I got the cheapo hunters view buddy stand for under $100 a few years ago. It's not bad for one guy and more roomy than most ladder stands, but it's still a small stand. I'd recommend something larger like you're planning. I just bought and assembled the Big Game Partner stand, which is also available through Cabelas and most other places. I like the roomy platform footprint (36 x 45 inches), the fact is can support up to 500 pounds so another adult can go hunting wiht me, and then I can gun or bowhunt out of it with the flip up shooting rail. Again, I just like a roomy platform when drawing my bow. Just a personal preference that makes me worry less about trying not to fall over the side and more about making the shot. The stand you are thinking about looks a lot like mine. Good luck!

P.S. If you're thinking about the Big Game Partner stand, Cabela's has them on sale for $250 and Scheel's in St. Cloud has them on sale for $199. You can also get them through the Sportsmansguide for about the same price as Cabelas with shipping included.

Please explain further. I believe they make a few as I did my homework. The one with a smaller platform looks confining. But the partner and partner plus models are plenty roomy. Is it the seat pad you don't like? If so, that can be easily corrected. For instance, I thought the hunters view pad was not very comfortable at all but the problem was solved by either doubling the pad over and tying it with twine or using a seat pas you could buy at Fleet Farm for $5.

I just got one for my birthday. I have a 2 person Big Game Side Kick. No pads and I haven't hunted out of it yet. Does have a nice platform and I do plan on putting some pads down to save on the back side but ti seems pretty nice so far. I got it because I'm 300 lbs without heavy gear and wanted something a little bit heavier duty. ONly problem I've ran across is it is not a 1 person job assembling and hanging it up in the tree.
