I have a meridian color with the lake chip. Is there a way to see the lake contours and waypoints on the contours on your PC? The lakes all come pre-loaded on this chip and I guess I haven't really tried much. But viewing what I can see on my little handheld screen would be very nice to view on the monitor on my computer.

I know I can use my road map software on the puter, not sure why they didn't make the lake one the same way...

No expert but my guess would be no. I have the navonics chip and it clearly states if I hook it up to a chip reader it can permanantly damage it. My guess is they dont want you making copies of it to sell. If you can load it to your computer you can make a new chip for your friend.
