Looking at a boat, $ and motor ?

riverrat56

Question

Dad and I are looking at a new boat, 2003 Lund Rebel, 2003 Yamaha 4 stroke 30 horse tiller, boat has some dock rash on it, but not bad, according to the dealer the motor has under 100 hours on it, boat comes with a battery and gas tank, no electronics or trolling motors, they are asking 5995 for it. What does everyone think of this price? Also does anyone have any experience with the motor

So you feel that is over priced?

BTW I do have a depthfinder and a trolling motor for the boat, so that i'snt a needed add on, they are coming off my old boat which is going to be a duck boat.

Whats everyone else think?

Thats pricey. Dealers arent a good place to buy used boats unless its after season. Look in the paper etc. for deals. Should find a few Rebels out there. I also think that motor is small for that boat. It would troll down nice though. I take it were talking a 16 footer?

i bought a brand new 2002 16ft rebel with a 40hp 2 stroke merc in 2002 for about 12k give or take. but that comes with motor warrantys and boat so for almost 6k that might be a bit unless you can talk um into a warraty normally they wont do it because its used, might want to look in the paper or online like said before good luck

Sounds like a good rig. The price sounds pretty average for a Lund with a newer 4-stroke on the back. This time of year the prices usually are higher, and with the recent price hike on steel, Aluminum is higher too. Boat prices have gone up, even from last fall. If you really like the boat, I would get it. It does't hurt to dicker on the price or ask them to throw some thing extra into the deal. GOOD LUCK!
