walldoggie
Went to the ice show friday. love it even bought a few things. Wish i knew who people were, I was probably walking by half of you. So i guess hi late. but in my travels i stopped by the lakemaster booth and played with the h2o c. Then i got to talking to one of the guys there and got some great news and some bad news all at the same time. Well here it goes lakemaster if you havent allready heard is coming out with a new chip in febuary or march with 12-20 new lakes including upper red, which is awesome except it is at the end of fishing season and i need one NOW, , they are going to work on a trade in program but not certain if they will. I also asked about the rumor of erasing your chip if you plug it in to a card reader, he said that it is possible but not likely, but he really did not elaburate on that to much. well running long but thought this would be helpfull. ps might even go back to the show on sunday morning if i get the itch for some deals. hanson
walldoggie-That is pretty sweet news about the chip. I was like you, needed one NOW. I now have it now. H20 C + chip!Anyway, the URL map on the current MN chip has the bottom contours on it but it is the same version contour map that is available on the Upper Red Lake Area Association HSOforum (URLAA). It also shows the resorts locations as well as the position and pattern of all the crappie cribs. I wasn't expecting the crappie crib locations to be on there so I thought that was a bonus. One question about the new chip, did they do a survey of Upper Red for 1 foot contours (ProMap)? That would be well worth the money. Every little bottom variation would show on the map.
walldoggie
Hanson, In response to your Question it is my understanding that yes they did do there own survey. Which will make the new lakes that they surveyed much more accurate.
Captain B.R.K
Hanson- I wonder if LM came out with a new chip since this spring? I don't remember my MN chip having URL information on it. But then again, I can't honestly tell you I checked either. If it's on there, IT is a bonus!!
Random guy
My chips all have the URL map with the wide countours? If they did a survey on RED I would like to get my hands on that map and see what they come up with. Every map I have ever seen on Red is very differant then the one before. The trouble with Red is any strong structure that shows up will be almsot un-accessable once the masses have it mapped on a GPS. You think the crowds pack up tight now wait for a 100 yard long rock reef to show up on a map. Lakemaster does a very very accurate job! I know my leech chips is dead on. Fun to see what they find on/under Red.
Borch
Well I'm picking one up this weekend. Hopefully the exchange program is up and running soon. Depending on the lakes they've added(URL would be great!)I'd definitely participate.
