long shaft on shallow boat

was going to put my 8hp suzuli long shaft on my son's 12 footer. other than it will stick down farther in the water and will need to watch water deep more closely. it there any other different than running a short shaft on the boat?

Nope there is no problem with that, just be careful in shallow waters.

Works fine with 2 guys in the boat but if the front is light then the nose likes to hang in the air for me. Add a little weight to the front and it should be fine.

You can get transom extensions pretty cheap if this is going to be a permanent addition.
