My 1994 Merc 115 control went out on me this weekend, nearly stranding me on the water, saved by the trolling motor. I took it apart last night and was able to reassemble it, the motor shifts into forward-neutral-reverse. No piece appeard broken or stripped. But the cam for the idle rpm adjustment will not line up with the roller for the idle speed adjustment lever. Because it was getting dark I set the project down. I am not sure what part is out of adjustment or if it is back in the motor. It would be nice to find out what caused the failure in the first place so I can be sure it doesn't happen again. Has anyone else had a similar control problem, and where should I be looking to fing the problem? Any suggestion is appreciated.
