LED 12 volt rope lighting?

Curious on people's opinion of the 12 volt LED rope lighting that is starting to appear on the market for your portable shelter- worth the extra $?

I'd say led bulbs will give better light than rope lights. I just bought some red led rope lights at menards--didn't light up too well compared to the led bulbs(30 led's per "bulb") that fit into the bayonet style fixtures commonly found in campers, tail lights etc..
