mtrue68
I talked with some guys fishing carp on the Mississippi, just below the Ford Dam in St. Paul, and they said they were useing a paste of cornmeal, oatmeal, flour and water. How does this differ from boilies? Will this work well with water or should I use eggs?
Guest
Hi yer basic difference between past and biolie is that a boilie is paste boiled in water to provide a slightly cooked outer layer that stays better on a hair rig, lasts longer and is more impervious to 'nuisance' fish than paste. If you plan on making your own boilies then eggs are the important ingredient as a binder for the paste. If you want recipes for boilies there are some good sites out there ( see my earlier post ) - I don't make my own ( as yet ) since I simply don't have the time and there are loads of good quality manufactured frozen and 'shelf life' boilies available here that I confess I take for granted. If their paste works I say go for it - quite often people here will coat boilies with a paste for added attraction. CheersSteve
mtrue68
Sunday my girl friend and I went fishing for carp on the island just below the Ford Dam and had good results using the paste bait and molding it on the hook. I caught about 15-20 and she caught 6 in about 2 1/2 hrs. It was a lot of fun.
