NIBOWMAN
I have a dumb question about oil injection. I bought a boat with a 96 Johnson 115hp last fall. Previous owner said oil injection was working. I topped off the oil tank before taking it out last fall. Engine seemed to smoke alittle and smelled of mixed gas when we were out. Only put about 10 gallons of gas through it. Getting boat ready for summer now and took a look at the oil tank. Only went down a little bit. How much should I expect it to use? Should I look at eliminating it and mixing fuel? loadmaster
115 Evinrude EFI about same year. Bought used from dealer and he told me that I should use less than one tank a season depending on how often you use the boat. Your eng should have a warning if oil is not injecting and it will limit the rpm of the eng. THEY SAY that you can run the motor with out oil to get you back in. Thats scary. crothmeier
I go through about one tank of oil a summer with our Evinrude 110. and I use it quite a bit. I also thought it wasn't getting enough, but it is.
NIBOWMAN
Thank you for the quick response. Just checking as I've only mixed gas before.
delcecchi
At 50 to one, the classic mixture, 10 gallons of gas would use up 1/5 gallon oil or somethat less than a quart.
