Auger runs rough

My strikemaster solo eventually started up first time out this year, idled fine, but dies when I push it full throttle. Tried changing the plug, and put in new gas. I would assume its a carburetor problem? The first time I ran it i was using old gas from last year. Smart, I know.

How do you go about cleaning/adjusting the carburetor?

Did a little research, found people having trouble with the vent tube (it doesn't have the vent cap, but a tube inside the gas tank instead). Tried running it without the gas cap on, no luck. Have not taken the cap off the exterior tube next to the gas tank. Might try that.

Any ideas?

could try seafoam in the gas, start and let run a while the let sit over night.

My Solo was doing this as well...I found the little filter in the gas tank was filthy. Replaced it and she runs great!

If that doesn't do the trick you may have to give the carb a good cleaning.

Tried the seafoam thing, no luck. Ended up dropping it off at a local shop. Three weeks and $105 later the carb has been cleaned and the auger runs decently enough. Pretty expensive "tune-up".
