Where to go, where to park?

Never fished the area before but would like to make a few hardwater trips this winter. Are there any good maps of the area?

you wont find maps of the back waters between nelson and wabasha. To park, just find a..parking lot. Not trying to be funny, but there are parking lots on the road for anglers. BE CAREFULL if your going to fish early season. I have been on 7-8" of ice and then 2" 20 feet away. There is current back there, also the vegitation effects the ice. The farther you go from the road, the more the ice will change. the trick is to get away from the masses but not go to where the ice is unsafe.(early season) ALWAYS where a floatation device and fish with a buddy when you start scouting away from the road.

As far as the bite goes...find a drop off. find the channel and fish the bank of it.
