my wife's co-workers r ravin bout em but problem for me is hardly anyone carry's them so for one it is much harder to find a good deal on one and two when they are affordable for us its either 5 years old or over 100,000 miles. just tryin to figure out what the shelf life of one is long term and how much of a risk would it be for one as is without any warranty.....someone currently has a loaded 2009 with 130,000 miles for under $20,000 and online kelley blue book listed as worth $22,000. if they r like mercedes or BMW and retain their value much longer than the average vehicle may be worth a shot but want to find out if there are any possible issues i need to be aware of first

Maybe this will help - I have a 2006 Armada with 87K miles on it. We bought it new and did not get the extended warranty.

I have had zero problems with it since day one. It rides and drives great and will pull a house. I tow my 5,000 pound boat all over MN and WI and love the vehicle.

I picked up a 2011 Tahoe 3 months ago - the Tahoe ride is much smoother than the Armada but I have much less storage capacity, towing capacity and clearance. It seems like the Armada gets better gas milage that the Tahoe.

Around town the Tahoe is better. For the big trips with the boat I would the Armada any day of the week.

been doing lots of research for these, when reading up on reports and others top picks in same class for some reason the armada is never in the top 3 even though it has more head clearance, legroom, shoulder room, towing capacity, and overall passenger room.

3 biggest issues i have read/heard are gas mileage, a rear door latch issue, and brakes (due to size & weight of vehicle more is needed for slowing & stopping so they get used up quicker). our #1 priority is space/comfort/legroom and a 3rd row seat is a necessity. the only challenger we have left to check out is an acadia (due to comparable legroom) in a smaller class. but if the legroom/overall room is not comparable, will probably go with a bare bones 1 year old with around 20,0000 already on it. trying to keep sticker price below $35K

You must have a small yacht for your boat to be 5,000 lbs!!

My boat/trailer/motors/gear combo comes in just under 5000 lbs and she aint no yacht!

20' boat, 50 gallons of fuel, 4 batteries and a tandom axle trailer will put you real close to that.

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
