Cutting an ice blank

Hey guys,

quick and easy one for ya. I'm looking to build a few ice rods in the next few weeks, but I want them shorter than the 28" purchase length. I'm thinking of doing both a glass and a graphite rod.

I figured I would need to tape the cut, but what else do I need to do? Hacksaw with a fine blade, rotary tool cutting wheel, or chew through it with my teeth?

ive used both a hacksaw, and a dremel. Dremel is cleaner and faster.

Is there anything I need to be concerned about by doing this? I know I need to be careful with the graphite due to splinters, but what about the glass? I know next to nothing about glass.

If you are really worried about splinters take a fine slender file and go around until you are through. Fine tooth hacksaw works well.

Place a band of tape around the blank and then cut with a cut off wheel.

have done it with a dremel...as long as you tape it you'll be just fine
