Rookie Question: Ice house setup: tipups, rod holder, rattle reel

This is a rookie question, but I'm planning an ice fishing trip with buddies and the ice house we're renting doesn't have rattle reels (only way I've fished in a permanent house before).

Question: what's the best setup when we're not going to be jigging/watching our lines (ie: cards & beer time)? Obviously, we're renting so we can't attach anything. What works best?

i have just set up tipups in the house and then put some around so you can see them out the window. If your just there with the guys, no flasher to hang out im sure you will have luck. Ask the guy who's renting you the shack he will be able to tell you what they are eating

Attach rattle reels to a bucket then you can use them wherever you go. Even when outside the house. Works good for Rod Holders too. Make sure they are made in the good ol USA.
