Lake Alexander nature conservancy youth hunt

Recommended Posts

My son was drawn for the lake Alexander youth archery hunt at the nature conservancy area! He is pretty excited, so am I. Just wondering if anyone out there has hunted the area and has any tips for us. Sounds like we are not supposed to do any scouting prior to the orientation day. Any info is much appreciated, thanks.

I volunteer to help at that hunt every year and unless something has drastically changed, scouting (hiking by foot) is perfectly acceptable and encouraged(at least has been historically) prior to orientation. Generally speaking TNC's preserves are open to the public for compatible uses (like hiking) year round. http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/reg...uidelines-2.xml

You can get more info from the link above.

Its seems that most of the hunters see deer and many times multiple deer. The only thing I have seen is they sometimes get too greedy and hold out for a very big rack and dont end up shooting anything. That being said it seems west of the seems to produce good numbers of sightings. Good luck!
