moon phases

I've often hear people talk about moon phases and musky success increasing during new and full moons. We're currently in a full moon phase and are in an unstable weather pattern for the past few days - my thought would be that the fishing should be pretty good according to the weather and moon phase - two odds in our favor. I've been out on Waconia the past couple of nights with little to no success. What are other's exeperience the past few days? What are your thoughts on weather patterns and moon phases in general? Maybe I'm fishing the wrong lake, wrong times, or I have the wrong horseshoe.

I have found the weather is the #1 item that will make or break your day of Muskie fishing.

If you are lucky enough to get out on a prime weather day, then the Moon, Sun, Wind and Barometer all will help to make it either a good or great day.

Follow those Lunar Tables and you will start to plan your trip around them!

Good Luck!

I prefer stable weather. I have found that if we can get a string of nice days in a row, by about the third day and then all the way up until the pressure starts to change the fishing can be great. The longer the string of weather the better the fish will bite right before the change.

Musky fishing is like playing slot machines, you can't get-away from putting in the time and being lucky...the more time you put in the luckier you will get...the lures, the moon, the weather...you still need to make your casts - there is no easy answer-and no way to avoid making a lot of casts-in the long-run it will pay-off and it
might happen on a sunny, calm day on a metro lake...
