Sea Legs

I am looking at getting a new pontoon for our family. I have an incredibly shallow shoreline - enough to get a pontoon to float in, but like 18-24 inches at the end of a 32 ft dock. My old pontoon has crashed against the shore and dock in heavy wind, which we get a lot of on the east side of this lake. Does anybody have experience with Sea Legs? Its a slick idea, but they look tippy in pictures.

Thanks

my father in law had them installed on his new pontoon about 5 years ago. They are fantastic. One less lift to put in and out of the water every year. Work flawlessly year after year. Very stable plus the benifit of being able to explore islands on the lake without having to tie up the pontoon just pull up in 5 feet or less of water and raise it up and go.

One minor detail to remember. When you raise it out the water make sure you raise it high enough that if you have big waves that the pontoon will will not float around on the wave crests.

One other little trick that is pretty neat. I'm sure the sealegs guys will not recommend this but if we are in deeper water and in the wind. I have lowered the legs down and they act somewhat like a drift sock to control dirft speed. Just make sure you are deep enough as to not strike the bottom and to raise them before motoring off.

I got a quote of $4600. Which is pretty comprable to an aluminum lift I think. My biggest concern was stability in heavy wind. We get some big weather on our 1200 acre lake and I have visions of the pontoon/sea legs combo laying on its side! Sounds like if its high enough out of the water it should be OK. Thanks for the posts!
