Monitor-Receiver hookup

Cecil

Recommended Posts

Hey all. Having some issues hooking up my theatre system. I have a projector and a receiver (Yamaha HTR-5990), Play Station 3 and a direct TV box. When I bought the house a few months ago they left this equipment (minus the ps3) but they had it all wired with AV connections. I am trying now to convert to HDMI. I have the HDMI cables going from Direct TV and PS3 into the receiver and am getting sound. However, I have to run AV from the projector since it does not have an HDMI hookup. The receiver says it converts from AV to HDMI, but doesn't seem to be working.

ANY IDEAS???

I had a similar issue with a dennon receiver. I fixed it by correctly labeling the input type (AV on the receiver)and also matching the input and output format(on both devices). For example I had a 1080i TV, I had to set the signal output to 1080i on my blu-ray player or else I wouldn't have a picture. If the output on the projector doesn't match the receiver or TV it won't display.
