beer batter
Is it worth it to get a microwave with convection capability? Does it really make breads not mushy? Appreciate hearing anyone's experiences.
papabear
go for a convection oven instead. And find someone who knows how to use it to show you the ropes. Those who know how love convection baking. Fortunately they are now very common on basic ranges. If you need a new micro just buy one. In my experience the more you pay for a micro the more to go wrong and cost you buying a new one in 5 years.
Tom7227
My wife learned that there are two types of convection ovens and that most salespeople don't know the difference. The cheaper one has a fan that simply circulates the air/heat inside the oven. The second has a heating element that boosts the heat up.I have no clue why anyone needs this. But I also only eat, not cook.
CJH
At our previous house we had a Kitchenaid Oven with the fan Convection. The bennefit of it is that it cuts down on cooking time and crips/browns everything up better. We actually miss it. Not sure how they apply it to a microwave, but if you do a lot of cooking in a microwave, it might be worth it as long as its not significantly more expensive.
