car wont start

Recommended Posts

Got a 98 ford taurus that I parked for the winter. I went to start it yesturday after charging the dead battery from sitting all winter. The car would not start. Plenty of cranking but it sounded like it was not getting any gas. Anyone have any ideas? Is there a way to force some gas into it? I noticed mice made a nest in the engine compartment. I hope they did not chew anything

If you look on the passenger side of the motor you should see a schraeder valve test port for fuel pressure. Remove the cap, press in the center in, an be prepared to get squirted with gas if there is pressure in the system. If it squirts, release the valve, crank it over a couple more times, then press it again. If about the same amount of fuel comes out you probably have fuel pressure. If nothing comes out you probably don't have enough fuel pressure.

You can open up the air box like you where going to change the air filter and give it a couple of shots of carb spray through the air snorkel while somebody cranks it over. If it starts your on the right track with lack of fuel.
