Willowcats

From what I've seen, they seem to be a SE Minnesota thing. You can find them in Rochester and the areas around pool 4/5 of the Mississippi River.
The supply of these critters starts to get short about right now as well.

Anybody know of a bait store that offers these babies? I'm talking about the LIVE ones.... not the plastic madtoms. Oh yeah.... prefferable sw Minnesota...

Get a tiny hook and split shot, some worms, and a light rod.

Go to the rip-rap of most on any river dam and dip the hook into the crevices of the rocks/rip-rap.

Madtoms (AKA) Stoncat, (AKA) Willowcats thrive in this stony environment. You should find enough to get bait.

They rarely stay out in the open very long during the warm water periods or during the day. Why, because everyone and their sister is trying to eat them, so why make it easy on them to do so.

So look for them hiding in their favorite haunts, rock and rubble.
