So if I'm pounding slab crappies or nice walleyes under a slip float on my boat, am I not "really fishing"? I wouldn't be actively doing anything with my rod. And is that really any different than fishing with a slip bobber through a hole in the ice? Does that also mean that if I drift with a spinner rig I'm not "really fishing"? Again, I'm just holding the pole. Same goes for trolling cranks.

Fishing is fishing, you're out there with one purpose, whether it be in a boat or on a sheet of ice. Whether your jigging, drifting, trolling, casting or just plain old bobber fishing. Heck, some days I just go fishing just to enjoy being out on the lake spending time with family or friends.

I will continue to teach my son all of these aspects of fishing with the hopes he doesn't grow up to be an [PoorWordUsage] that thinks his way is the only way.
