Ely Lake Expert
Lep or Dave probably can give me the best answer here. I know the rules for riding an atv during regular deer season. Does the same thing apply for during muzzle loader season? I assume it does, but it doesn't say anything specifically in the rulebook. Dave S
I received a call back from the CO in my area. This is going to sound pretty hosed up, so bear with me. I'm only the messenger. The operating restrictions are in place during the muzzle loading season. However, on page 25 it states 'licensed deer hunters'. In other words, if you're out for a joy ride, the operating restrictions do not apply. If you're a licensed deer hunter, you are bound by the restrictions. Another catch is, some state forest land may have other restrictions above and beyond what the MN DNR has in place. In that case, you would want to contact your local state forest office for that area. Hope this helps.
lakevet
Same rules/restrictions apply to muzzy hunters with snowmobiles and ATV's as to other firearm hunters. If you have a valid license for a season that is open then the rules apply to you. A snowmobile can be handy some muzzy seasons but not this year so far!lakevet
Ely Lake Expert
Thanks, that is what I figured. I generally walk to my stand anyways but I have heard some wheelers running around off in the distance and was curious.
