honda rancher 4x4 starter HELP

Can anyone help how hard is it to replace the starter.

I hear the clicking from the solenoid but wont start.

but if you tap on the starter it starts.

I'm I correct in thinking it is the starter that has to be replaced? It looks like if you remove the air box it would be

easy to get at . any help would be a great help.

you might not have to replace the starter. A couple of the guys on here had taken them off and just gave them a good cleaning. I dread the day I would have to purchase a new starter. They're not cheap for OEM. Other ahve purchased cheaper brands, but they don't seem to hold up.

I would get it rebuilt at your local auto electric repair facility. Better quality parts and workmanship and more than likely cheaper. typically around $75 to get rebuilt.
