smelt fries?

with kingboolas posting about smelt batter reciepe got me thinking. whatever happened to all the smelt fries? i never seen a one advertised this year in my area. i look forward to at least one a year. dont organizations do them any more or whats happening. no smelt or what? just curious.

There is a dandy smelt fry just a ways down south of you in Darwin every year but I'm not sure what month they have it
