Late migrating birds

On Saturday me and a couple buddies went out duck hunting near St. Cloud and shot a blue wing teal, and the next day we were walking back and saw 2 robins in a tree, I'm guessing those birds didn't get the memo to fly south.

Wow, sure is late for the blue wing around here. I've seen robins into January.

Sure am excited for this front to come through for the last day of duck season tomorrow. Wind gusts to 44 mph out of the NW with low of 10 tonight. Gonna be a great day on the water!!

robins are actually around in Minnesota all year except they move into more heavily wooded areas during the duldrums of winter, hence the reason for few sightings in the winter (although many still will migrate).

Hey who says you don't learn anything in college. Sorry for the rant, just my inner bird geek shining through!

All the water I could find this morning was beneath a couple inches of hard stuff! Oh well, there is always late season goose hunting.

I got out somehow, and was it cold. One below zero when I left and I'm sure it got colder. Saw mallards and goldeneyes but nothing decoyed for some reason. Coldest I've ever duck hunted.
