iffy
Yes, 50 to 1 is ok for that motor. Usually one uses 1 pint rather than 13 oz. Although I doubt thats why his motor froze up. Was the water pump working ok? If its an old motor and the impeller hadnt been changed in years, it probably disintegrated and your friends motor seized up from overheating. Valv
A lot of problems with these '70s motors is gasoline type. They need octanes, and they need very clean carbs, you can run 1 or 2 cylinders lean and seize the motor
eurolarva
13 oz is running 60 to 1. That would be on the lean side. It could be the problem however a carb running lean is more likely if the water system is working good.
bubs
IF YOU ARE 13 OUNCES TO SIX GALLONS THAT IS TOO LEAN YOU NEED 16 TO SIX FOR 50 TO ONE SO IF THE MOTER RAN THAT LEAN FOR A TIME ON THAT MIX HE BURNED IT UP. yOU CAN GO LEAN FOR A LITTLE BUT IF IT IS A WHILE IT IS TOAST.
