Trout Guy
I was wondering if anyone knows of formulas for homemade worm bedding, I was having trouble keeping them alive for more than a couple of days. I had a Field & Stream article that said how to do it but I recently lost the article. Thanks

harvey lee
I have bought the bag of shredded bedding and made my own out of cut up newspaper. This spring I put 10 dozen crawlers in a 6qt ice cream pail.I had 3 pails with the bought bedding and 3 pails of the shredded paper bedding and the stuff I made worked just as good.I ran the paper through the paper shredder and then added water so it was just past damp. Take a pail and put the home made bedding in then add the water and put the crawlers on top.The next day take out any crawlers out of the pail that didnt work into the bedding. The weak ones wont work there way in.Every two days I will add a little water and then tip the pail up side down.I put them in the fridge in the garage and they will keep for many weeks. With just paper you will not have a dirty mess on your hands and in your boat.
