Not a bad 2nd best record in baseball team those WSox are, with 7 All-Stars, BUT.....are they coasting? After demolishing StL, are they coasting? Did they coast thru the Cubs? Did they coast thru the O's? Are they holding back for the stretch run since they are so far ahead in the WCard and just coasting? Is their pitching suspect as shown in the last few weeks or are they just coasting?

They better watch out in the 2nd half or they just might coast into 3rd pl in the Cdiv IF the Twins can come alive again.

PS Windy, please don't go giving me that "race goes to the persistant (sp?)..." crud either. (I know, I know...they are still better than the sCrubs).

Geno,

I guess we only issue the beat down to the Bo Sox when it counts...LIKE THE FIRST ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS!!!

Remember Geno, (here comes another Windy-ism) If a roller coaster just went up it would be an awfully boring ride. Peaks and valleys my man. Funny how we aren't hearing much about the other team in the Windy City...There is still another team here, isn't there, Geno??? Anybody, anybody, Buehler, Buehler...???

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Windy

Windy,

Can we please try to stay on topic here buddy?

Geno,

I don't even believe you started this thread before the BOSOX closed the deal on a sweep. grin.gif

Spinner,

I did address the subject and stay on the topic in my first 4 lines to Geno, maybe you didn't get a chance to read the first 4 lines. Take your time, go back and re-read the post when you have a little more time, like maybe when you are watching the 7 White Sox players in the All Star Game!!! Just kidding, giving you a little of the business as Eddie Haskell used to say to the Beav!

Alright Windy, I do like that "-ism" much better.

And your comeback about last yrs playoffs was admirable, but we'll see if that means anything come THIS yrs playoffs.

As to the "other" team, they are still the talk of the town - even if it is only because ol' Dusty is on the hot seat.

Spinner, being newer around here, I know you don't quite understand all of us yet, but Windy and the rest of us have been going back and forth for a few yrs now and we all can take it as well as dish it - I had a chance to dish alittle on Windy, so I took it. You might think its too early, but rest assured, Windy knows how we play the game.

Now, back on topic --> Hey Windy, here's another of your -

-isms: Cousin Eddie says the banana is down the Sox pants and the monkey is out--- sweeeeeeeeeeep on its way, stay tuned.

Windy and Geno

I realize you're kidding. And so am I. That's what the smiley guy is in there for. I was just messing with him for picking on the Cubs when the subject is clearly about the BOSOX sweepin on the CHISOX. Obviously I'm teasing cause you started it Geno. At least this time. grin.gif

And the CHISOX and BOSOX are tied at fives in the 12th as I type. Gotta go watch the thrilling conclusion.

Thanks Spinner for your expla.

Yes, I too caught how Windy brought my Cubbies into it even though I did everything but come out and say please don't.

The Bo/Wsox game today has been a very good game no matter who you root for and no matter who wins it. It is so hard listening to Harrelson - Konerko swings defensively and it's "good cut by Paulie" but the BoSox hitter does that and you'd think it was Christy Mathewson on the mound 'cause "he was so tied up". Sheesh. I don't mind a little "homer" talk from the announcers, but this cry-baby stuff "2 diff strike zones today" is pitiful.

I know Ortiz is good, but swing away on a 3-0 with bags juiced and Ramirez on deck? I don't think so. And did you see the comedy of errors with Dye on 2nd and Gload on 3rd when Nixon stabbed that liner in RCtr?

I think if you ran a poll 95 percent would want Ortiz swinging 3-0 with bases loaded and Babe Ruth on deck...... grin.gif

Geno,

I am drained! What a game. Can you believe it, 19 innings. Did you happen to notice a few stats of the game, the BoSox 3-4-5-6 hitters were a combined 2 for 32 today and Trot Nixon went 0 for 9 with four strikeouts, talk about the "golden sombrero". I hear what you were saying about the Hawk complaining about the two strike zones, but he was right on the money. That ump was brutal, it seemed like he might have had one of Schillings rookie cards in his back pocket. I am surprised Ozzie didn't have his drivers license checked to see if the guy was from Boston. The ump was giving Schilling the low low strike all day and was really squeezing Contreras but hey, that's baseball. The streak is still alive and Jose can pass YO-Han with his next start in NY for number 18. I was glad to see Cliff Polite get into the game and get the win he is a nice guy who is struggling to get his form back, hope this helps for the second half.

Glad you filled Spinner in on the -ism's and trash talking but I kind of knew he had picked up on it. Did you see the 125 foot Hummer that Zambrano rode into Pittsburg for the All Star game, I guess he needed one that big to hold all his family members!!! Any thoughts for the All Star game, here's one to chew on. The first no hitter in All Star game history as the American League totally shuts down the Nats.

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! Windy

PS You and all the Twinkie fans will have a two week vacation from yours truly starting in about 11 days as I make my annual trek to the land of Twink for two weeks. When I get back I fully expect my beloved Pale Hose to be firmly lodged in first place by at least 4 games as the Kitties begin their second half slide. Windy

Gotta admire the courage to make an UNAMBIGUOUS prediction. I've made it clear I think the Tigers will battle you to the end. They admit they probably have to acquire another bat to run with the Sox.

And you AL guys be gentle on my boy Arroyo. I don't want him coming back all traumatized from the AS game. Wish I knew which CHISOX would be in the game when he pitches so I could predict a couple Ks. smile.gif

Pier, I'd still make Ortiz wait for 3-1 with Ruth on deck or at least hope he would pick out a better (down the middle) pitch to swing at.

Yeah, Windy, I totally misread Spinner on that post. We're all friends now though. Great game indeed. But you sound WORSE than Harrelson. Contreras was pretty wild all day and didn't deserve alot of calls. As to "the streak", he lucked out today thanks to Dye and you know it. You mention Golden Sombrero - well, Contreras has the Golden Horseshoe and you know where it's hiding - AND I'd still rather have Santana on my team.

By the way, we too look forward to your annual trek to Cass - nyuk, nyuk. You been watching the reports? Greatest walleye fishing in years up there, but in the last 2 weeks in the heat of summer, it has slowed down a little, but I know you'll do fine wearing out your vacuum sealer.

Just leave some walters for me for next year please!
