icollectfrogs
My son and I are interested in trying for some big cats in the Lockport area. What would be a good time of the year to go? Is there any good lodging in the area around the dam? Also, when does the season open? thanks
hanson
You may want to ask this question in the Red River Forum as well. Here's the link- Red River Forum Also check out www.catsonthered.net Cats on the Red is located right at the dam with a boat launch. I believe the catfish season opened last weekend. I think the answer to your question is whenever you can get up there!! Early season meaning NOW is pretty good although the reports weren't too great from last weekend. Canuck
The opener has been slow at Lockport but that is VERY unusual. It should pick up in acouple of wks. If U want size, say 20 to 30lbers early Sept is the best month otherwise June and as the other gentlemen said, check out Stu's HSOforum or give him a phone call at 204-757-9876. I know he is there every morning from at least 7 til noon. You won't regret it the phone call.
