I was watching basscenter and also got a chance to see the video. It is an amazing fish and was officially denied, not only because it wasn't on a certified scale but because california state law doesn't allow fish that are foul hooked to be legally kept. They also talked about how bass sometimes push baits off the bed rather than striking them. If you spend a lot of time bedfishing you will eventually foul hook a fish unintentionally.
