Well with this storm coming through is it going to be? the seasons over and the birds blow through OR are we coming into the best time? I'm going to plan on getting out Sat AM for a few hours and see what happens.

River, if it's bad and things freeze up check the streams for ducks. I've had some tremendous luck jumping trout streams here is SE MN.

But it doesn't sound like it's going to be too bad. They are saying 2-4 inches this morning.

i would say last weekend on saturday was the best time all year for me, i was hunting around the metro and had tons of flocks coming in, divers too...it was nutz, i felt like i was in ortonville, no kidding....

Same for me--Saturday was like hunting in So Dak. Absolutely awesome. Today sucked, but I did get something today that I thought I'd never get here in Minnesota during our duck season. I got a fully plumed Gorgeous drake Shoveler--He's going on the wall.

I love those Drake Shovelers. That black and white and brownish body is perfect.

Did yours have a mostly black head, or was in somewhat iridescent green like the mallard. I've seen them both ways.

It was fully plumed--Green head, blue wing patches, green speculum, snow white breast, perfetly brown body, and solid black bill--I mean perfect. I am stoked over it.
