Greenbacks?

Recommended Posts

Lots of 28"+ but they were to open the curtains today and maybe it will slow down for a couple of days but I wouldn't bet on it. It is probably one of the better falls we have seen in a long time. Some guys were up fishing and their buddy with the boat had to leave a day early so they rented one of Stu's boats on Thursday and travelled down to Sugar Island (long run with that little boat) and I think they ended up with one 30" and several 29"

Only real way is for U to give it a try.

Skinut: That is the Red River between Lockport and Selkirk. In the fall the walleye make a false run into the river and we call them greenbacks due to their colour, they are the colour of old $1.00 bill, they are just beautiful not to mention the females are usually in the 8 to 14 lb range and most and I mean most people let them go to reproduce. If U are looking or a lodge to fish out of check out Catsonthered.net or phone Stu McKay at 204-757-9876.

Nice fish Terry, see U are still playing hookie from school. I am tied up in school for the next 2 wks but will be out for at least a couple more runs before freeze up.

Dennis

Ice up is usually around the middle of December, but be flexible. I have seen boats on the river the 1st of Dec and a couple of days later guys (fools) walking on the river. U could be pretty sure for the 21st of Dec to at least be able to walk out on the ice.

The greens have slowed alittle the last couple of days, and have no real idea why. There is a north wind which usually is better but they just seem to be slow right now. Today, all I caught was a goldeye and a single sauger. I only saw one green caught and that would be only be about 5 lbs, but that is fishing.

Dennis, unfortunately not long enough mad.gif!!! That's just for the fact that it'll be almost 7 months 'till we get to fish cats again. The greens HAVE slowed down some since our Thanksgiving weekend, but there are still enough going to make it interesting, although Jimmy got skunked AGAIN today.

First ice is what I'm waiting for wink.gif! Lemme' know when you're coming up. Stu says he just got a big new Frabill to try out grin.gif!!! As long as Dark isn't sleeping with his fishing partners again, that is... 878_rat_dashing.gif !!!

    • Yeah it was a beatdown
    • Your kid needs to stay with him!👍
    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
    • Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe.  I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho.  Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
