tweedlap
I work at International arrivals at MSP and we get two flights a day from Regina and Saskatoon. There are a ton of bear and elk hunters coming through for the last week or so. Some bird hunters have been up, as well. Here is their observations:Regina: Lots of ducks, some local dark geese and no snows.50 miles north of town.Saskatoon: Not many ducks, quite a few local dark geese.Sunday they started to see a "few" flocks of snows.100 miles northwest of Saskatoon. Both: Trying to harvest grain but it has been fairly wet weather.Another update Sunday eve.jimSaskat

tweedlap
The weather in the area was not the best for hunting the last four or five days. A couple of the days were bluebird weather. 60 degrees and winds, light.A killing frost one nightThe reports varied a lot. (On snow geese)Everyone reported plenty of shooting. Ducks, honkers and specks.Regina: Some snows but it varied a lot by the distance and direction from town.Saskatoon: Seems like a lot of the hunters were NW of Saskatoon, from 20 miles to 100. A lot of birds if they would move. One guy said; they had snows in the air for three solid hours. The weather appeared to be the biggest factor.Tweed

snowgoose
I just returned from a week trip west of Saskatoon. The weather is really mild for this time of year. We had one morning with frost on the ground. The rest of the time it was between 40 and 65 degrees. Lots of Speckelbellys in the area. Snows seemed to be arriving every day. Not a lot of ducks. The farmers are having a hard time getting the crops out due to wet fields. There is a lot of grain laying in swaths. Farmers are begging for hunters to keep the birds out of the crops. We had a hard time getting the snows to decoy. They have been getting run off the fields and being shot at by all the farmers. It is keeping them very spooked. All in all we had a grat trip. Filled on specks and ducks for 4 guys. This was a brand new area for me this year so I spent a lot of time in the truck scouting. We put on 3350 miles on the round trip in one week. Good luck to everybody this season. Todd
