Noonaford
Hey folks,I sat in my deer stand sat and sun morning near artichoke lake near ortonville MN. I heard shooting at 5:45am both mornings. I was disgusted, it was totally dark out! I would of called the tip line but I was miles from a phone. All I have to say is, if I hear that again, I will bring my cell phone and call. DNR have a hard time covering area, lets be their eyes and ears. Lets work together to keep the rules in check and be mentors to the people that have no respect for wildlife and the law.I'm done venting.
Swamp Scooter
Could it be someone shooting a coyote or coon or skunk when they go out in the morning? shot gun or rifle? The one thing I learned when hunting in a different state is read the regs. WI you can shoot first thing in the am. MN it is later. Not trying to cover anything up but maybe something needed to get shot.
whitewolf6647
I heard them to I was south and east of Clinton about 8-10 miles or so and I heard somone shooting around the same time that day. It souned to me like they were south of where we were. I know they had to have been gooses hunters cause I kept hearing shots from that direction up until we left at around 0745. I also heard some hunters shooting to the north of us about I would say 2-3 miles at about 615 and I know they were goose hunters because I saw the flock get up and head to the east. That's pretty sad when people have to do things like that just to shoot a goose. No hunting morals or common sense what so ever.
Sartell Angler
people always shoot early...its wrong on many levels because not only is it unfair to the other law-abiding hunters out there, the chances for them to cripple and lose birds is far greater when they can't even see across the swamp.hopefully this opener we will not hear any shots before 9:00am, but i would be very surprised if we didn't. We hunt in an area where there are a ton of duck hunters, and once the season is officially open, it sounds like a firing range. Man I can't wait for this weekend...any talk about hunting right now just makes me want to skip classes this week, jump in the truck and drive up to the cabin and wait out the remaining days there....EEEEEeeeeeeeeeS.A. Swamp Scooter
Too bad they are hunters. I have hunted the Ortonville area in the past and liked it but it does get crowded. It took me a long time to shoot my first goose but it was legal and well worth the wait.Just hope they do not choose your swamp on opening day.
